Private Pay
Even if you have insurance, there are significant advantages for some people when they pay for counseling out-of-pocket. The primary advantage is confidentiality.
If you use your insurance, we are required to provide a diagnosis code. That code becomes a part of your health record. While we are conservative in our diagnoses, it is still better in our view to avoid it if possible. This is especially true in the case of children.
Insurance companies also have the right to session notes and intake information completed by their providers. While we have never had any of them ask us for any of this information, it could happen.
Out of pocket medical costs are, in-part, tax deductible.
Our private pay per office session rates are as follows:
- Initial Intake Session $125*
- Family Therapy......... $110
- Couples Therapy........$110
- Individual Therapy.....$100
- Support Groups..........$45

Payments are due at the beginning of each session.
Payments may be made by personal check (made out to Bill Jacobs LPCC) or clients may pay in cash. If clients pay in cash we can receipt them.

One-Time Discount with Counseling Intake Form
In order to streamline the counseling process, we have a Counseling Intake Form you may fill out before coming in.
To use it, simply download it, print it, fill it out and fax it to our secure fax number.
If you choose to fill out this form, you will save us all a significant amount of in-session time. We offer a one-time $25 discount if you opt to use the online form.
If you do not fill out the Counseling Intake Form, we will fill out an intake form during the first session.

Insurance
We accept the following insurance sources:
- Presbyterian Health Plan
- United Behavioral Health*
- OptumHealth New Mexico
- All Salud programs
If you use your insurance, your co-pay is due at the beginning of each session. Please have checks written prior to the session to save time. We accept checks or cash only.
Because insurance companies do not provide a discount for filling out our counseling intake form, we can't offer a discount for filling it out if you are using your insurance. But it will still help us save time, which will also save you money.
If we are not listed as a preferred provider with your insurance company you might be able to use your insurance if they accept out-of-network providers. Most insurance companies reimburse clients at 50%.
*We have noticed that United Behavior Health is selling policies that require pre-autorization and limited numbers of sessions. These are not usually noted on the insurance card. Consequently, if you want to use UBH, you must bring documentation of pre-authorization and session numbers to your first session. This information may be obtained from UBH.

We accept credit cards as the only form of payment for Internet Counseling.
